            This indenture made the 15^th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty five between John Reeves of Lancaster District of the one part and James H. Witherspoon Comr. in Equity for Lancaster District of the other part, Witnessed. Whereas, the said John Reeves stand indebted to the said James H. Witherspoon Comr. in Equity for the said District by his B____ having ___ ___ unto these presents, conditioned for the payment one thousand seven hundred & Sixty one dollars 50 cents - in the following _______ ___ on third on the 6^th Jan 1846 also one third on the 6^th Jan 1847 and also one third on the 6^th Jan 1848 with Interest on the while from 6^th Jan 1845 until paid. Now this Indenture. Witnessed. That the said John Reeves, for and in consideration of the said debt or sum payable, as aforesaid, to the said James H. Witherspoon Comr. In Equity as aforesaid and for the better securing the payment thereof to the said James H. Witherspoon Comr. as aforesaid _____ to the ____ ____ aforesaid and also in consideration of the sum of one Dollar by him the said James H. Witherspoon Comr. as aforesaid to the aid John Reeves in hand paid ___ and before the Sealing and deliver of these presents, do bargain, grand, sell, ____ release, convey and confirm unto the said James H. Witherspoon Comr. as aforesaid and to his hiers and assigns forever, all that piece, parcel, plantation, or tract of land situate in Lancaster District on both sides of Little Lynches Creek known as the Mike Horton tract ____ _____ by James Reeves, decd from him, containing Five hundred thirty five Acres more or less bounded by land of Susan Caston, Michael Horton, Thos. C. Clyburn, Brewer and John Baskin having such form, marks, shapes, ____ as a plat thereof Marked (mark) made December 1843 by B. J. Blackmon of and annexed to the return of the Comr. In the case of Elisha Reeves et al as Phillips Richardson & others ____. Reference being had to the same to more fully describe and locate said lands a copy of this plat aforesaid is also annexed to the _____ to me from said Witherspoon Comr. & references ____ be had to that to also describe and locate said land.

            Together with all and Singular the Rights, Members, and appurtenances, thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining, and the Reversion & Reversions, Remainder and Remainders, Rents, issues, and profits thereof to have and to hold the said piece, parcel, plantation or tract of land above described with the appurtenances unto the said James H. Witherspoon Comr. as aforesaid & to his hiers and assigns forever. Provided Nevertheless, and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents, that if the said John Reeves or his heirs Exeturos or Adms shall will and truly pay or comes to be paid unto the said James H. Witherspoon Comr. as aforesaid the sum of one thousand Seven hundred & sixty one Dollars & 50 cents according to the terms, times & payments above mentioned, these & _____ _____ these presents shall be _____ ____ and ____ any therein contained to the contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding. And it is ________ and agreed upon by and between the parties to these presents, that untill (default) shall be made in payments of the aforesaid sum as before set forth and the Interest of the same, it shall and may be lawfull to and for the said John Reeves peaceably and ____ to hold, use, occupy, ____ and enjoy all and Singular the premises above granted and released and every part thereof, with the appurtenances and to herein contained to the contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding - In witness whereof the said Parties to these presents have hereunto set their hand and Seals, the day and year first above written Sealed and delivered in the presence of {Wm A.
